Sony-Ericsson claims that innovation keeps the company dynamic and exciting, but I can't find anything innovative, dynamic or exciting about their site. The navigation is easy and the site structure simple, but the design is so uninspiring that my overall experience of the site and their brand was surprisingly negative.
Although all the sections are given clear names and are logically ordered, nothing about the homepage drew me deeper into the site or caught my attention.
Even the Imaging cross-sell section didn't compel me to find out more - probably because there is no indication what this section is about or why I should click on it. The illustrations in the Imaging pop-up I did like, however.
Perhaps these could be better used elsewhere on the site to give it a more fun and entertaining feel. Where are their newest models? The clunky row of phones displayed on the homepage shows 10 models, some of which have been around for years.
I believe it would be far more effective to show only the most recent models, at least on the homepage.
Overall the design leaves me feeling this is simply a brochureware site from which I get no feeling of the brand, no understanding of the company and no passion for their technology. More images and a dynamic design would make it a more interesting site, and greater attention to the copywriting would enhance the brand experience.
