The move follows Mezzo's acquisition of RNR International Marketing in Australia at the end of 2000. IncNet's client list includes Citibank, Drake International, ACNielsen and IBM. Mezzo's chief operating officer, Stuart Spiteri, said the company would use the acquisition to integrate data management technologies and joint strategies in Australia. It will also use IncNet's network of reseller partners in Australia and New Zealand as a channel for reselling its email marketing tool expresso. "We in turn also get a small company that is already profitable with stable management and strong current business relationships."
He added that the acquisition demonstrated Mezzo's strategy to work with other firms which "own their intellectual property, have a solid track record of performance, high margins - for this deal, over 70 per cent gross margins and 20 per cent net margins - and have a significant strategic value to business".
According to Tony Johnson, general manager of IncNet, Australia's direct marketing industry amounted to US$8 billion in 2000, with an expected growth of 15 per cent per annum.
