Colombo awards stock exchange work to Burnett

COLOMBO: The Colombo Stock Exchange has handed its corporate identity assignment to Leo Burnett Solutions, with billings estimated to be in excess of US$150,000.

Burnett outgunned Ogilvy Outreach, J. Walter Thompson, Grant, McCann-Erickson and Masters DDB for the assignment, which includes creating a new identity and positioning for the stock exchange.

The agency has also been entrusted to develop an internal communications programme to motivate the exchange's teams as well as Sri Lankan high-fliers to invest in the local stock market.

Burnett will also handle media planning and buying on the account. The first campaign is expected to roll out in July 2002.

The Colombo Stock Exchange came into existence in 1990 although stock trading began in Sri Lanka more than a century earlier.
