Collis named ECD at Ogilvy in Japan

SYDNEY - Mark Collis (pictured) is vacating his post at Leo Burnett Sydney to take up a new position as executive creative director at Ogilvy & Mather Japan.

His move follows the promotion of fellow Australian Marcus Jackson, who has relocated to Hong Kong to begin a regional role within Ogilvy’s Asia-Pacific network.

During his three years at Leo Burnett Sydney, Collis drove the creation of the agency’s Earth Hour initiative for WWF, which last year won a Titanium award at Cannes.

“He’s been doing some extraordinary stuff,” said Ogilvy Japan’s president, John Goodman, adding that Collis was media-neutral and focused on the brand rather than media execution.

Goodman added that the Japanese market had become more dynamic and with international agencies now “on the radar”, was increasingly attracting top creative talent from abroad.

Collis will begin his new role in Tokyo in March and will report to both Goodman and Tham Kai Meng, co-chairman of Ogilvy Asia-Pacific.
