Coke revives 70s campaign

SINGAPORE- Coca-Cola is celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of its first commercials, popularly known as 'Hilltop', by restoring it in high-definition format.

Launched in 1971, the commercial features a chorus of youths standing on top of a hill, holding Coca-Cola bottles and singing, 'I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke'.

"In marking the 35th anniversary of Hilltop we pay tribute to a commercial that had a huge impact both on the people who watched it and also on the history of advertising for Coca-Cola," said Phil Mooney, director of archives, Coca-Cola.

The re-released commercial will be added to a 20,000-piece collection of Coca-Cola ads in the Library of Congress.
