Coca-Cola retains Universal in Korea

SEOUL - Coca-Cola has retained Universal McCann as its media agency-of-record following a four-way competitive pitch for its Korean planning and buying business that included HS Ad (formerly LG Ad), local agency Phoenix Ad and MediaCom.

The value of the account remains unconfirmed. No representatives from Universal McCann or Coca-Cola were available for comment on the result.

Other regional markets in which the agency works with Coca-Cola include Hong Kong and Japan
Universal was awarded Coca-Cola’s US$7 million media planning and buying account in Hong Kong at the end of last year in a move that displaced long-term incumbent Starcom and fellow IPG roster agency Initiative. Last year also saw Coca-Cola transfer its media from Dentsu to Universal in Japan.
