Coca-Cola loses HK chief Price to DHL Japan post

HONG KONG: Scott Price, Coca-Cola's country manager for Hong Kong and China, is leaving after more than a decade at the soft drinks giant.

Price will return to Tokyo, where he spent much of the '90s, to take on a senior post at DHL Japan, effective August 1. Price's move follows what he termed as "a year of investment in Hong Kong, where Coca-Cola had stepped up marketing initiatives on brands such as Sprite and mineral water Bonaqua in the last few weeks.

"After 12 years and five moves I have decided to leave the company for a new opportunity. It's been a difficult decision, he said. Price was brand finance manager at Coca-Cola, Japan in 1990 and by 1996 had been promoted to vice-president and director at the company's Tokyo office.

He relocated to Kuala Lumpur in 1998 to become country manager, before moving to Hong Kong in 1999.

In a separate development, Darren Marshall, marketing director for Southwest Asia, has been promoted to marketing director for Thailand. He will relocate from Singapore to the Bangkok office.
