Coates leaves Yahoo in Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE - Jason Coates, director of corporate communications for Yahoo in Southeast Asia, is departing the company after three-and-a-half years.

Coates, who is based in Singapore, has held senior communication roles at Yahoo since 2006 when he joined from Edelman, where he was a senior account manager. He reported to vice-president and managing director of Yahoo Southeast Asia, Ken Mandel.

Coates oversaw Yahoo’s PR and communications business across the portal’s Southeast Asia region, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. He also helped co-ordinate communications initiatives in North Asia, Australia and India.

Additionally, Coates has played a role in launching the newly created Singapore chapter of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

Yahoo has not released whether it is looking to replace Coates.
