CNN leads the race for news viewers: Synovate

ASIA-PACIFIC - CNN has come out tops in the latest Pan-Asian cross media survey, according to Synovate, the market research firm behind the quarterly statistics.

The study, which surveys viewers across 11 major markets in the Asia-Pacific region including Sydney, Hong Kong and Mumbai, put CNN ahead of the next best-placed broadcaster, BBC World News, with over 1.3 million more viewers tuning into CNN per month than its British rival.

William Hsu, CNN's vice president of news and advertising sales, Asia Pacific, welcomed the survey results as an endorsement of the network’s coverage of a "tumultuous" year in news. “At the same time, CNN’s ongoing investment in programming and newsgathering continues to pay dividends,” he said. The network’s dominance extends online, too, with the survey results confirming cnn.com’s position as the region’s leading news website.
