One source close to the review said that the company was looking for a digital agency able to work in the key markets of Australia, China, India, Japan and Singapore.
Rajesh Yohannan, regional eBusiness director, Citi Asia-Pacific, confirmed the news and said: "The internet is transforming the way we communicate with our customers. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance Citibank's website communication with our customers, we are seeking an external agency to provide internet content management support for our consumer banking business across the region."
Citibank currently works with several agencies, including Proximity, Publicis and Fallon Tokyo.
While sources close to the RFP document suggested Citibank might look to consolidate its digital business, one industry observer said the bank has traditionally “struggled to get an agency alignment” because agencies often hold conflicting accounts in individual markets.
