Mr Conrad Chiu has been named chief executive of Market Catalyst

International, an integrated marketing solutions company.

His move comes just months after he left as MD for South China and VP

for international operations at J. Walter Thompson for the CEO's

position at e-Media Partners International (eMPI).

The latest move by the advertising and marketing veteran, however, is

not as dramatic as it might look since Market Catalyst and e-MPI are

both owned by Morningside Technologies, an organisation which is

privately owned by the Hang Lung Group's Chan family.

One of the partners of the company is Ms Grace Atkinson, a former JWT

deputy regional director.

Mr Chiu described Market Catalyst as a company that took a holistic

approach to marketing and that its "business model is not of the

speculator dotcom type".

"The business model we are working on is very much focused not on media

but on strategic marketing in all disciplines," he told MEDIA.

Mr Chiu spoke of three main areas which all marketers should focus on at

all times: online and offline creative; technology applications for

marketing - including datamining, customer relations management and the

use of streaming and smart card solutions - and media solutions in both

traditional and cyber channels.

"Looking at the whole enables you to define even more clearly the most

effective strategy for all the different ways you can reach your target

audience," Mr Chiu said.
