The study estimated that Q2 online spend totalled RMB2.8 billion (US$410 million), up 32 per cent on Q1 and 73 per cent on the same quarter in 2007.
Display advertising grew the fastest, rising by 37 per cent on Q1 to RMB1.4 billion, while spend on paid search jumped 33 per cent to RMB1.2 billion.
The rapid increase was attributed to the effect of the Olympics on digital budgets.
Chinese online adspend soars
