China Unicom split prompts creative reviews

BEIJING - China's second largest mobile phone operator China Unicom is holding separate pitches for its GSM and CDMA networks after splitting its marketing department earlier this year.

It is thought that at least six agencies are contesting the GSM pitch, for the launch of a new high-end product, among them incumbent JWT with BatesAsia and TBWA also believed to be in the mix.

The CDMA pitch documents were submitted on Monday with a pitch to follow in the next couple of weeks for a one-year TV and print account.

At the time of publication BatesAsia, Dentsu, Euro RSCG, JWT and TBWA were thought to be competing.
