China Unicom hands $50m media duties to MediaCom

BEIJING - China Unicom has handed the bulk of its media buying and planning duties to MediaCom following a review that featured five other agencies, including incumbent Dentsu.

MediaCom takes charge of planning and buying for the mobile giant’s CCTV, local TV, radio, print, online and outdoor media – leaving Dentsu with the buying assignment for provincial TV only.

The combined billings of the new business is expected to be worth US$50 million to GroupM agency MediaCom, which pitched against four local agencies and Dentsu for the business.
