China Media Exchange COO departs after three months

SHANGHAI - Publicis Groupe Media China chairman Phil Talbot (pictured) has confirmed that China Media Exchange chief operating officer Karl Wu has left just three months into the role, taking a position as China marketing director with Intel.

Wu’s departure, which was confirmed by Publicis Group Media China chairman and ZenithOptimedia Asia-Pacific CEO Phil Talbot (pictured), comes four months after CMX chief executive Philip Beck resigned his post (Media, 4 June). Robin Chen, Zenith Optimedia’s chief financial officer for Asia-Pacific has been named acting head of CMX China, with Talbot indicating a replacement for Wu may not be sought. '

Prior to joining CMX Wu was general manager for NBA China. Recently promoted managing director Warren Hui will continue to oversee TV, print and radio negotiations for CMX.

Talbot said: “Being chief operating officer of CMX was a career departure for Karl, and as much as he enjoyed the operational role at CMX, he realises that his skill set and passion lies more on the client side and being on the front line.”
