China bank hires Euro to do battle with local rivals

GUANGZHOU: The Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) has tapped Euro RSCG to help it enhance its branding in the increasingly competitive banking category in Guangdong province.

The bank, which competes with the Bank of China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, previously employed local shops.

Euro has been tasked with formulating creative and media strategies aimed at boosting the effectiveness of ABC's marketing and branding campaigns.

Euro Guangzhou managing director, Rose Tay, said that in the past, ABC "conducted simple promotions such as leaflet drives without any official strategic plan for the brand".

Euro is expected to soon roll out television and print campaigns to reinforce ABC's corporate brand as well as promote the bank's services, including loans and mortgages.
