Chen to stay on at Y&R with new role

HONG KONG - Y&R regional president Ambar Brahmachary has moved to dispel speculation that Y&R Greater China CEO Wei Wei Chen is to depart the agency, after confirming that Chen will step down as CEO.

Instead, said Brahmachary, Chen will remain as brand leader on specific accounts, notably Haier’s Olympics branding assignment. “She has not resigned and she’s happy to work with us,” said Brahmachary.

Chen joined Y&R in early 2006 from Nitro China.

Brahmachary’s comments come after the arrival of Tom Kao as chairman of Y&R Greater China. Kao returns to the industry 18 months after he left his role as vice-chairman of BBDO Asia.
