Chavez relocates to China for DDB's Clean'n'Clear job

DDB will create a regional Johnson & Johnson hub for the Clean'n'Clear (C'n'C) business in Shanghai and has hired Beth Chavez to lead the account.

Chavez, formerly with Leo Burnett Thailand, where she handled Procter & Gamble's Rejoice business, will relocate to the Shanghai office in mid-February as regional account director. In an advertising career spanning 20 years, Chavez boasts multi-market and extensive consumer goods experience. Chavez has worked with major agency networks, including FCB, Ogilvy & Mather and Saatchi & Saatchi in Taiwan, Indonesia and the Philippines, on a range of accounts from Colgate Palmolive to J&J and P&G. An earlier China stint with Lowe in 2000 saw Chavez work on J&J as Greater China franchise director, handling its pantyliners and tampon brands. Aaron Lau, DDB Asia chairman and chief executive officer, said the network has the C'n'C business across the region, but chose to base the hub in China because the mainland is the brand's largest market in Asia. "We will have a central team based in Shanghai to manage C&C across Asia-Pacific," said Lau.
