Channel V launches band TV show

HONG KONG - Music network Channel V is set to launch a television show to support its new online music platform for Asian musicians.

Asia’s Music Platform (AMP) was launched in beta in November and is set for a full launch within the month.

The online community offers a platform, in a similar vein to MySpace, for Asian bands and artists to promote their music. Channel V will feature two top artists or bands on the site each month, and those musicians will also feature on the soon-to-launch television show, AMP120, and on a show called Paparazzi.

Exact programming details are yet to be confirmed.

“We want to recognise the fact that people around Asia listen to more than international artists,” said Ross Crowley, executive vice-president of content for Star, owner of Channel V.
