CFO Asia and China to close

HONG KONG - The Economist Group will shut down its CFO Asia and CFO China magazines this month.

According to The Economist, although printing will cease, CFO Asia’s conference and research services will continue operating through a merge with the Economist Conferences and the Economist Intelligence Unit’s research divisions.

Publishing for CFO magazines in North America and Europe has not been affected by the decision to close Asian operations.

Managing director of the Economist Group Asia-Pacific Tim Pinnegar attributed the shutdown to the worsening economy.

“Despite award winning editorial and an investment in people, research and marketing, the magazines have not generated the returns required,” he said in a release. “Looking forward, the poor economic conditions make the outlook for controlled circulation magazines very challenging.”
