CAT Telecom calls creative pitch in Thailand

BANGKOK - CAT Telecom has invited twelve agencies to pitch for its advertising in Thailand, estimated to be worth in excess of US$4 million.

The winning agency will be tasked to service the telco's two international calling services - 001, the premium service, and 009, the low-cost service - which have been handled by Far East DDB to date.

Invited agencies include Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson, Lowe, Dai-ichi Kikaku, Euro RSCG, Amex Team, TBWA, Fareast DDB, BBDO, I-Able, Geneve and Dentsu.

Four or five agencies are expected to be short-listed after the first round.

CAT Telecom is a state-owned telco that owns Thailand’s international telecommunications infrastructure, which includes international gateways, satellite and submarine cable networks connections.

Until recently, CAT had a monopoly on international telephony and CDMA mobile telephony.
