Cassels to head up Saatchis in Tokyo

TOKYO As part of a global reshuffle within Saatchi & Saatchi, Sam Cassels is expected to replace Jack Mickle as head of the agency's Tokyo operation from April.

Cassels was chief executive of Publicis Japan until the end of last year, when the agency folded its business into Fallon Tokyo and Beacon Communications.

Beacon is a joint-venture with Dentsu in which Publicis Groupe holds the majority stake.

The majority of Publicis Japan’s staff has been divided between the two agencies.

Neither Cassels nor Mickle was available for comment on the change.

Meanwhile, it is as yet unclear what Mickle’s next role will be.

Saatchis’ current Tokyo operation in Shibuya was launched six years ago with Mickle at the helm.

This followed the closure of the agency’s previous Japan venture, which was established along with an art gallery in 2000 and headed up by Graham Thomas.

The agency currently supports a staff of 25 in the market and has 10 clients.
