Carrefour: Thailand account 'yet to be decided'

BANGKOK - Carrefour has yet to decide on the destination of its Thai account, with WPP's JWT currently handling the account. Carrefour has a global deal with Publicis Groupe.

JWT won the Thai Carrefour brief last year. Carrefour has not called a pitch in the market and the client is still working with the agency at this time.

"Carrefour engaged JWT last year prior to the global alignment with Publicis. Up until this point, JWT has handled the account and Carrefour Thailand has not announced any changes," said a spokesperson.

Earlier this week it emerged that Leo Burnett had won the Carrefour business in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India. It won the account after a pitch within Publicis Groupe.

However, Leo Burnett handles the supermarket chain’s biggest competitor Tesco in Thailand. The agency won the Tesco account in May this year.

Sources suggest that the account might finally be moved to Publicis Groupe agency Saatchi & Saatchi as the agency has big operations in Thailand and does not handle any conflicting accounts.
