<p>How many marketing staff does ESPN have in Asia? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>ESPN has seven marketing staff in Singapore, one each in Hong Kong and </p><p>China, three in Taiwan and nine in India. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>What are the responsibilities of ESPN's marketing staff? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Manage the brands ESPN and Star Sports channels, which are </p><p>consumer-focused, and the corporate brand ESPN Star Sports, which is </p><p>more trade-focused. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Event management and promotion of the in-house programming like Tiger </p><p>World 5s, X Games and CGU. Promote tune-in to key programmes, such as US </p><p>Open tennis, NBA. Work with the company's cable platforms to drive </p><p>subscription to its channels. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>How does a candidate go about getting hired by ESPN? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Watch out for ads in the Straits Times recruitment section or log onto </p><p>espnstar.com. As well as relevant experience, a love of sport is a big </p><p>plus. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Is there an opportunity to move between departments or offices? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>There have been some transfers to other offices such as Hong Kong and </p><p>Beijing, and also to ESPN in New York. However, as production is done </p><p>out of Singapore, these positions are relatively static. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>What are the perks of the job? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>A chance to watch sport, travel opportunities to events. Recently some </p><p>production/marcom staff returned from filming Wimbledon and the X Games </p><p>in Barcelona. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>What's the average working week for ESPN's marketing team? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Eight days a week, as the company claims. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>How often do ESPN marketing staff travel in a year and to where? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>There's someone on the road every week, or at least it feels that </p><p>way. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Staff travel to China, Thailand, Malaysia, India, the Philippines, </p><p>Taiwan and Korea often and also go to major events like the US Open </p><p>tennis (New YorK); X Games (Philadelphia); or an NBA All Star game </p><p>(Washington). </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Where do ESPN staff hang out? </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Bisous wine bar - aka "the locker room". Or find ESPN staff at the </p><p>nearest cricket pitch, or curled up in front of the TV ... watching ESPN </p><p>or Star Sports. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
