How many staff? In Hong Kong, 19 staff in the office for the regional business. Other office and store staff are in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand, working for Diesel business and development.
Marketing responsibilities? To increase brand equity/value in the region through the targeted marketing/PR activities, and eventually link to the store sell-out and the overall brand perception.
Who's the competition? High-end fashion casual and premium denim jean brands targeting cool opinion leaders in the market.
How do you get a job at Diesel? Usually, by getting hunted by a head-hunter as I was.
Are department or office transfers possible? Anything is possible with the right attitude.
Any training offered? We go to Europe four times a year to experience and learn the new season's products, new marketing directions and concepts, etc. Then we transfer and implement the knowledge gained from the presentations to our regional sell-in campaigns and marketing activities, as well as on-going product and visual training we provide to our distributors and store staff.
Pay and perks? No complaints (but it always could be better!), and we get to work with and wear the fantastic collections.
Another perk is the frequent flyer and hotel points you rack up. Then there are the fantastic Diesel and 55dsl presentations held twice a year, with their amazing fashion shows and party extravaganzas that go on into the early hours of the morning, held in exotic locations throughout Europe. Plus there are free, authentic espressos at work!
Long hours? This is Hong Kong! Yes, long hours especially during the sell-in campaigns that are held four times per year. Then there are the late-night calls from Italy, as they start work at 3pm Hong Kong time.
Business travel? Annually, four times to Europe and frequent trips (usually twice per season) to the counties within our territory in Asia. Once I did a round trip of eight counties across Asia and Europe in three weeks.
