Name Tim Pinnegar
Age 39
Job title Regional advertising manager, The Economist
What is your greatest work achievement?
Hiring and working with some very talented media people in both London and Asia.
What would be your dream brand to work on and why?
Nike, in charge of marketing for their golf or football business, or Tiger Woods' management team. I have a passion for sport, especially golf.
What would you do if you weren't in marketing?
Spend more time with my family and be a lot poorer.
What was your big break?
Moving to Singapore in 1995 with Leo Burnett. I met my wife in Singapore and I love living and working in Asia.
Who was your mentor and how did this person influence you?
I don't have one mentor. In the world of advertising you meet so many interesting and varied people. I let the best bits of everyone influenece me.
Is there a secret to your success?
Pride and passion in all I do at work, and remembering to 'treat people as you would want them to treat you'.
How do you handle difficult clients?
Try to build a strong relationship between their product or service and mine. If they will not buy now, hopefully a postive relationship with my product means they will buy in the future. Also do what you have to do quickly - difficult people always seem to have less time.
What advice would you give to the next person to do your current job?
Don't worry too much about the past - do the job in your own style.
What are you currently reading that will help you in your job?
Cinderella ... to my four year-old daughter. It puts even the biggest work problems into perspective.
Who is the business person you most admire and why?
Anyone who achieves great success but strives for even greater heights.
