Careers: Q&A with ... Simone Wheeler

In Beijing, James Sun and Cory Law have been appointed to senior account roles for Greater China. Sun joins from a previous role as technology director at Weber Shandwick China, while Law arrives from the Mozell Group, where he was vice-president of communications and compliance. "These recruitments are driven by the objective to create a richer and deeper senior resource pool in our business," said Text 100 China managing director Chris Tang. "It is also a reflection of the company's intention to tap into the enormous opportunities that are currently emerging in China and its strong commitment to build a successful business in China for the long run." In particular, Tang noted that Law's 20-plus years experience in corporate marcomms could only be a benefit to the team. Law began his career at Intel in the US, before stints at HP and Microsoft. "Both the team and our clients would benefit a lot from Cory's tremendous experience in managing corporate PR initiatives across geographic boundaries, (and the) insights of large companies - their mindset, needs and expectations, and ability to counsel senior executives," said Tang. Text 100 has also relocated account director Matthey Lackie from Singapore to Shanghai. Lackie brings eight years of technology PR experience, including work for such clients as Xerox, IBM, Intel and Nokia. The agency is also expected to name Dongmei Zhang as its new human resources manager for Greater China, who arrives from a similar role at US-based customer contact firm Sykes. "(This is) in response to management needs in the China market and the unique challenges in terms of recruitment, staff retention and staff training and development," said Tang.
