Seismic shifts are taking place on a grand scale at StarTV, sparked
by appointment of Star co-chairman James Murdoch to the post of chairman
and CEO.
Having staffed as interim co-chairman at the network since February,
27-year old Mr Murdoch demonstrated his skills overseeing the company's
worldwide new media strategy.
Retaining his post as executive vice-president of News Corporation and
his membership of News Corporation's executive committee, Mr Murdoch
spearheads the company's interests in global Internet and digital media
ventures.
In 1999 Mr Murdoch founded News Corp's US-based interactive publishing
subsidiary, News Digital Media and continues to oversee its global music
business.
Boosting his appointment, Mr Bruce Churchill makes the corporate leap to
president and COO, having completed a four-year tenure as deputy chief
executive officer of Star.
Mr churchill nd Mr Murdoch will be working in tandem to accelerate
Star's growth and implement what Mr churchill termed its
"multi-platform, multi-service strategy".
