Hachette Filipacchi China has appointed a new associate publisher
for its seven consumer titles as it moves to strengthen client and
agency relationships in the mainland.
Gu Ming will take on the newly-created position of associate publisher
and will be responsible for all advertising sales and marketing
activities for Elle, Woman's Day, Car and Drive and Bo L'Evenement
Sportif, as well as the company's custom publications, which include The
Wings of China, Joyce and BMW Magazine.
Gu, who will report to Hachette Filipacchi China managing director Cao
Wei Ming, will be based in Shanghai and will aim to maximise the
company's China client and agency relationships.
She will also handle marketing to the four main consumer groups which
Hachette targets, including women, automobile, sport and
business/lifestyle.
Gu has been with the company since 1999, when she joined as the first
China division representative, based in Shanghai.
"Hachette Filipacchi China's managing director, Cao We Ming, said:
"While we have been publishing in China for 13 years, it is only
recently that we have set up direct operations in Shanghai and
Beijing.
"In terms of marketing and advertising, our goal is to establish real
value partnerships with our clients since we can now service them
locally."
Gu was promoted to regional sales and marketing manager at Hachette's
regional head office in Hong Kong in 2000.
She helped promote Hachette's publications in 10 regional markets and
was involved in pitching for regional business opportunities and
executed value-added creative advertising projects, said Cao.
