However, contractual terms, which prevent him from joining a competitor immediately after Carat, will see him take a six-month "gardening leave".
Langton, who headed the Malaysian operation for nine months, said he was negotiating with Carat to shorten the duration of the leave.
However, he declined to name his future employer.
Langton cited a desire to return to Singapore, where his family is based, as he was tired of commuting on weekends.
Carat's chairman in Malaysia, Margaret Lim, will take on the reins as acting CEO until year end, with a replacement only expected in the new year.
