Carat out of Sara Lee media review

ASIA-PACIFIC - Carat has been eliminated from the US$25 million Sara Lee regional media pitch, leaving three agencies, Maxus, Starcom MediaVest and ZenithOptimedia, in the fray.

According to sources, Carat was eliminated after the first round, while two agencies are expected to be shortlisted after the recently concluded second round.

OMD withdrew earlier from the pitch because of conflict with Reckitt Benckiser, one of the Omnicom network's largest globally aligned clients. Starcom MediaVest replaced OMD on the pitch list.

Sara Lee's regional marketing director Mario Salvatore confirmed that the media review is underway but refused to reveal the names of shortlisted agencies, saying only that an agency will be appointed next month.

GroupM is the incumbent in most markets.
