Carat Asia-Pacific pulls in US$20 million from global Mattel win

LONDON - Mattel's selection of Carat to handle its US$350 million international media buying and planning duties, is expected to be worth US$20 million in Asia-Pacific.

The win sees Carat displace global incumbent MindShare, although the Aegis agency previously held a minority of the business in this region. The development follows a final round pitch against MindShare and Zenith and Starcom.

“We have proved we can win some of these global pitches when the client requires consistency across a large number of markets,” said Carat regional CEO Patrick Stahle. In Asia-Pacific, Mattel’s largest media markets are Australia, China, India and Korea.
