Terry Savage, executive chairman of Cannes Lions, said: "We are focused on developing a series of regional festivals. We already have Dubai Lynx and Eurobest. We are working on the feasibility of an event in Asia."
Asia Tigers will be a premium event "at a price point that isn't as prohibitive as Cannes", giving delegates from Asia access to world-class speakers and a world-class jury, added Savage.
The event will cover only Asia - Australia and New Zealand are excluded - and the jury will be made up of mainly Asia-based judges, although this is still under discussion.
On the decision to hold the event in Singapore, Savage commented: "The country has a superb infrastructure, it's conveniently located, and it's safe."
"Singapore may not be seen as exciting by some in the West, but it is not necessarily seen that way through Asia eyes. There is real buzz about Singapore these days."
