Calvin Klein ads banned for promoting rape

SYDNEY - A controversial Calvin Klein jeans ad campaign has been pulled from billboards after the Australian advertising watchdog found it was suggestive of rape and violence to women.

The Advertising Standards Bureau upheld complaints about the campaign, which includes a near-naked woman being straddled by a man while another pulls her hair, reports the Herald Sun.

The ad campaign features the Dutch model Lara Stone who is married to David Walliams.

The images in the Calvin Klein campaign are reminiscent of the campaign for Dolce & Gabbana which was banned in 2007 by the advertising watchdog after drawing 166 complaints.

One ad depicted four men dressed in D&G clothing. Two of the men were brandishing knives in an aggressive manner towards a third man, while a fourth man lay on the floor with a wound to his head.
