Caltex inks Suzuki Cup deal

SINGAPORE - Caltex, a local subsidy of Chevron, has penned a multi-year deal to sponsor the AFF Suzuki Cup football tournament.

The event, formerly known as the Asean Football Championships, will be co-hosted by Thailand and Indonesia in December following a qualifying tournament between Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and Timor Leste next month in Phnom Penh

"This is another great development for the AFF Suzuki Cup," Asean Football Federation president HE Tengku Tan Sri Dato' Seri Ahmad Rithauddeen, said in a release. "Caltex is a well-known brand throughout the Asean region and I am sure the involvement of Caltex will help power the AFF Suzuki Cup to greater heights."

The event, which has been won by Singapore in its two most recent installments, will also include teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
