Following a recently announced budget boost, Hong Kong Tourism Board has some important plans for its conference and incentive sectors. Kate Nicholson reports

LANGHAM PLACE HOTEL
Langham Place in Mongkok has just reopened its Club Lounge which it has rebranded as Club L. Open 24 hours, the lounge is divided into three areas – Relax, Refuel, Replay. The internet den also has a dedicated computer online check-infor airlines.

Langham Place’s Tokoro Robatayaki and Bar opened in February and serves some of the freshest Japanese food in town. The venue is separated into a bar and restaurant.
The bar has two private dining rooms that seat up to six people and one of the largest selections of sake you are likely to find outside of Tokyo. The restaurant, which seats up to 120 people, and also has a private robatayaki room for eight people, has a modern feel and Japanese pop art adorns the walls. RENAISSANCE HARBOUR VIEW HOTEL
The sky-high, 43-storey Renaissance Harbour View Hotel is right in the centre of the action in Hong Kong, next to Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre and directly opposite the Star Ferry, which links guests to Tsim Sha Tsui.

The hotel has undergone some major renovation works recently, with 95 of its guestrooms being upgraded. The face-lifts of a further 165 rooms is due for completion in September.
The business centre, front-desk reception and upper and lower lobby refurbishments were completed in September 2007.

The Oasis Room, which holds 250 for cocktails, is a popular choice for corporate groups with its glass ceiling and harbour view. The hotel, which shares a large swimming pool with next-door-neighbour Grand Hyatt, also has a junglestyle garden.

JW MARRIOTT
In March JW Marriott Hong Kong launched its Riedel Room@Q88 which holds 40 people for cocktails. A total of 160 Sommelier crystal wine glasses in eight different shapes are available for tasting wines and champagnes.

The private room can seat ten guests and its wall is decorated with crystal balls while a total of 33,540 pieces of sparkling crystals drape from the ceiling reflect the hip side of the place. The walk-in wine cellar allows guests to select their own wines. It has 80 different varieties on offer.
The hotel will also embark on a total face-lift of its ballroom at the end of the summer, which should be completed by September this year. www.marriott.com

INTERCONTINENTAL HONG KONG
Following the completion of InterContinental Hong Kong’s extensive five-year, U$70 million renovation, the hotel has opened its outdoor spa-pool cabanas at the newly renovated pool terrace. Designed by Feng Shui master, Jackie Chan, I-spa treatments include caviar facials

A total of US$2.5 million was also spent on the hotel’s new presidential suite, which took 253 days and 76,120 man hours to build.
At 7,000 sqm, the five-bedroom suite is among the largest in Hong Kong and it has been named as one of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world at US$87,000 a night for all five bedrooms. The suite has an expansive wrap-around harbour-view terrace with a rooftop infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi overlooking the harbour, which is ideal for high-end corporate cocktails.

Accommodating up to 36 for seated dinners and 60 for cocktails, the presidential suite can also be hired for private corporate events.

The hotel also has a pillarless ballroom that can fit 1,300 for cocktails.

SHERATON HONG KONG
Across the road from the Space Museum, the Sheraton has one of the most envied locations in Hong Kong – near the waterfront on the corner of Nathan Road and Salisbury Road – and is an easy walk to the MTR and Star Ferry.

The 782-room hotel recently opened its new Wine Room, which is located next door to the famous Sky Lounge where delegates can enjoy 360-degree views of Victoria harbour. Guests can select and pour their own wine from a wide selection.

The hotels offers a total of 15 meeting spaces spread over the third and fourth floor, the largest of which is the grand ballroom which 500 sqm.

NOVOTEL CITYGATE HONG KONG
Located in the heart of Tung Chung, the Novotel Citygate is just five minutes from the airport 30 minutes from the city centre.
The hotel has 440 rooms, including four executive floors. There are seven meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 300 people.
Hong Kong Disneyland is within easy reach, just 15km away, while AsiaWorld-Expo is also close by.
