Burson-Marsteller acquires India's Genesis PR
Burson-Marsteller has acquired Indian public relations firm Genesis, in one of the more significant Asian PR deals of recent years. Genesis, which had been B-M's exclusive Indian affiliate for the past four years, brings 200 employees across six major Indian cities into the WPP network's fold. While B-M regional president and CEO Bill Rylance declined to comment on the value of the deal, it is believed that the acquisition represents a large piece of business, given Genesis' market-leading reputation in India. Genesis/Burson-Marsteller will be led by Genesis principal and founder, Prema Sagar, and CEO Ashwani Singla, both of whom will also join Burson-Marsteller's Asia Pacific leadership board.
