Burnett re-emerges in Maxis pitch final

KUALA LUMPUR - Leo Burnett has made a surprise re-entry into the final round of the RM200 million (US$60 million) creative review for Malaysian telco giant Maxis.

The Publicis Groupe agency was believed to have been eliminated from the pitch, leaving incumbent Ogilvy & Mather and Y&R to contest the post-paid business. However, agency sources confirmed it was still in contention. Maxis would not confirm the news, nor say how or why Burnett got back in the reckoning.

Meanwhile, Grey and incumbent BBDO square up for the Maxis pre-paid brand, Hotlink. A Maxis spokesperson has said that a result for both parts of the business will be announced in mid-April.

Maxis' three-strong agency roster - BBDO (prepaid), Ogilvy (postpaid) and Burnett (B2B) - is expected to be cut to two agencies.
