Burnett Korea outguns 10 in TVC drugs pitch

SEOUL: Leo Burnett has outgunned 10 agencies to win a government assignment to produce an anti-drug campaign that aims to build awareness about the dangers of narcotics abuse, especially among young adults. Burnett Korea managing director, Patrick Goggin, described the pitch as a creative shoot-out.

"The focus was on our creative capabilities as we were all asked to develop storyboards for a TVC, which we will likely launch in the middle of next month.

"Our commercial's concept is not to go out there and say, 'No. You shouldn't do this.' We came up with the concept of, 'If you are doing drugs, you are digging your own grave,' with visuals to that effect," Goggin said.

The pitch came amid a sharp surge in drug abuse cases and narcotics seizures this year. There was no pitch for media planning and buying as these functions will be handled in-house by the Government.
