KARACHI: Manhattan Leo Burnett has outgunned rivals to win the

collect call service assignment of US telecommunications company Sprint

in Pakistan. Sprint declined to disclose details of the pitch or

billings.

Sprint's director of international marketing, Carolyn Kemp, said the

company was "particularly impressed with the creative concepts" the

agency had presented.

Sprint's entry in Pakistan marks the first time that an international

collect call service has been offered in the country. The service will

be available between Pakistan and the US in December.

Manhattan managing director Anis Khan expected the service would go down

well with expatriate Pakistanis, who total 3.5 million. Of this figure,

400,000 live in the US.
