Burnett duo back to Ogilvy in May

Creative duo Donevan Chew and CK Tan have returned to Ogilvy & Mather after an 18-month stint at Leo Burnett.

"CK and Don worked for Ogilvy before, so we know their capabilities -- and they have been performing well at both local and international shows," said Ogilvy ECD Daniel Comar. He added that the agency's win of CIMB, estimated at RM15 million (US$4 million), also meant that the agency's creative team needed to be expanded. CIMB is Malaysia's largest investment bank.

Effective May 2, Chew and Tan will report to group creative heads Brian Capel and Paul Lim, who oversee the CIMB account as well as Pizza Hut, 8TV and Heineken. Capel and Lim joined Ogilvy from Burnett last October.

The agency has two other creative groups, one headed by creative director Brenda Bolar, handling Nestlé, and another dedicated to the Maxis account. The creative department is led by Comar, who added that the agency is also set to hire two more additional teams, bringing the total to five.

"We are focusing on the best people," said Comar. "These new hires are proof that we are turning Ogilvy into the best environment and best brand to work for." In 2005, Chew and Tan were recognised at the Spikes, AdFest, One Show, Clio, MC2 and the national Kancil Awards.
