Leo Burnett Malaysia swept this year's Kancil Awards with a tally
of 40 trophies and the Golden Kancil itself, for a patriotic TV campaign
called "Merdeka 2000".
The news came as small surprise in an evening during which a paltry four
golds were awarded - one to Burnett, one to FCB and two to Grey.
A grand total of 208 golds, silvers, bronzes and special merit awards
were presented.
The Burnett Golden Kancil winner, for client Petronas, underlined the
diversity in race and culture in the country, with the message being
that it doesn't matter if you're Malay, Indian, Chinese or one of the
other minority races - they all call Malaysia home.
The Kancil Awards followed a two-day creative seminar attended by nearly
500 delegates.
