Bupa appoints OMD and Clemenger

MELBOURNE - Bupa, one of the biggest healthcare companies in Australia, has appointed OMD and Clemenger to handle its media and creative accounts following a review.

The announcement comes off the back of a six-month competitive tender process, which started in mid-2008 after the merger of Bupa Australia and MBF. 

The pitch was only open to incumbent agencies, which included Clemenger, BMF, OMD and Mitchells.

Bupa’s director of marketing, product and corporate affairs, Mark Engel, said: “Following the merger, it made commercial sense to consolidate our agency arrangements and we did that via what has been an incredibly competitive and professional pitch”.

OMD in Melbourne has been working with Bupa on its HBA and Mutual Community brands for over 10 years.

Steve Sinha, managing director, OMD Melbourne, said: “Our number one objective at the start of this year was to retain the Bupa business and we are very proud to have done so.”

OMD will take over media responsibilities for Bupa with effect from 1 July.
