Brisbane performs well at APEX Awards

BRISBANE For the second time in three years the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre has been rated among the top three in a prestigious survey of convention centres around the world.

The survey, known as the Apex Awards, is conducted annually by the Brussels-based International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC). BCEC was one of 19 international finalists, which was won by Centre des Congres de Quebec in Quebec, Canada. BCEC general manager Robert O'Keeffe said: "This honour demonstrates the centre's consistent high performance levels and supports the centre's outstanding achievements. "Our national and international business continues to increase from year to year and to contribute exponentially to the economic benefit of Brisbane and Queensland." AIPC president Barbara Maple said: "This report is part of our addressing AIPC's overall mission of enhancing excellence in centre management, and an equally important outcome of the evaluation." Based in Brussels, AIPC is a non-profit organisation whose members include 149 of the world's leading meeting facilities in 53 countries around the world. Its survey is conducted exclusively on research with the clients of each participating centre.
