BRIEFINGS: AWSJ ad revenue up 18% for Jan-Nov '99

<p>The Asian Wall Street Journal (AWSJ) topped the CMR International </p><p>report for November 1999, emerging as the leader among regional </p><p>publications in both market share and total revenue increases. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The AWSJ's ad revenue increased by 56.62 per cent (US$2,322,959) </p><p>to a total of US$6,426,000, compared with November 1998. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Overall, according to CMR, adspend in Asia regional and international </p><p>publications decreased by 4.56 per cent for November last year. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>In terms of dollar increase, the AWSJ's total revenue for the first 11 </p><p>months of last year was US$41,675,397, an increase of 18.02 per </p><p>cent compared to the same period for 1998. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The title's market share increased by 2.63 per cent over the same period </p><p>to 16 per cent, but was second to Time, whose market share was 16.26 per </p><p>cent. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Meanwhile, the AWSJ has begun publishing a new section called Technology </p><p>Journal. The new section's main aim will be to explain and illustrate </p><p>the impact of technology on business, society and people as well as </p><p>focus on new gizmos, corporate developments and hi-tech entrepreneurs, </p><p>said AWSJ editor Reginald Chua. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>To ensure as comprehensive a coverage as possible of this area, the </p><p>regional daily newspaper has increased the number of Asian-based </p><p>reporters devoted to technology issues from three to seven, with plans </p><p>to hire two more. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
