All parties declined to comment when contacted but according to a source, Cerebos Singapore pitches annually. “Most agencies declined to pitch,” said a source. “The client is notorious for pitching every year and not being clear of what it wants.”
Last year, Cerebos parted ways with 10AM and appointed Saatchis, which resigned the account within less than six months.
Simultaneously, at least 12 creative and media agencies are expected to line-up for a shot at Cerebos Hong Kong’s US$4 million business. Ogilvy & Mather, JWT, Grey, TBWA and two unnamed local agencies are making presentations in the coming weeks.
On the media side, it is understood PHD, OMD, MindShare and Maxus will contest the brief.
“The pitch is for two of our key Brand’s products, which both need to be revamped with new strategic growth direction,” said Koby Kwan, marketing head, Cerebos Hong Kong.
Some agencies involved have described the process as “too cluttered”.
“From the agency’s point of view, there are too many people participating in this pitch. It’s a waste of time and labour, and we will not receive any pitch fees,” said one media agency source.
