First, a small bit of information about me would be in order to understand where I'm coming from.
I'm someone who loves anything clever, innovative or just beautifully and meticulously crafted. I'm a sucker for them.
Case in point - I own one of those metallic silver Zippo lighters and I don't even smoke.
I collect things like a pack rat with a 'no tomorrow' mentality. So I thought picking one design that ranks as my favourite would have been an almost impossible task.
That is, until I laid my eyes on the new iPod from Apple.
I can go on about the design that is beautifully simple or I can rave about the sophisticated feel of it in your hand as you operate it. But the truth is there was just something about it that made me want one and I don't quite know why. It's probably to do with the trendiness of owning one (I heard that you can't get it in New York because it's sold out, with back orders till last month).
Or the fact that you can be very creative with its uses - some professional DJs are now using it to mix music for parties and nightclubs).
Or the fact that it's leading edge 'techie' stuff or ... ah forget it.
It just works. Whatever the reason, it's just sexy and appeals in every sense. I don't take mass transit and I don't have long stretches of quiet, personal time where I canreally put it through its paces, but ah ... what a machine.
