Leo Burnett has promoted Mr Eddie Booth and Mr Dennis Wong in its
Greater China operations.
Mr Booth is now chairman/ ECD, while Mr Wong takes up the CEO
position.
They were previously ECD and MD respectively.
The promotions are part of a client-driven restructuring of the agency's
Greater China operations, which includes appointing MDs to head up
individual offices on the mainland. The biggest factor is that many
companies realise they can no longer run China businesses from Hong
Kong, because competition is too fierce.
"There has been a massive shift of business from Hong Kong to China
recently.
For example, part of the P&G account is now serviced out of Guangzhou
while all of the work for Coca-Cola China is handled out of Shanghai,"
Mr Booth told MEDIA.
The restructuring is also due to significant new account wins over the
past year, including Wrigley's and Prudential.
