Blow to Phuket recovery as convention centre scrapped

BANGKOK The worst fears of Thailand's CEI industry have materialised with the news that the proposed 1.5billion (US$391m) Phuket Convention Centre has been scrapped. Industry figures have termed the decision to abandon construction as a major blow to the country's CEI sector as well as the local economy, which was slated to earn 19.5bn baht in annual revenues from the development.
