BBDO's regional chief So resigns after four years

BBDO is said to be close to naming a new regional chief to succeed Raymond So, who resigned after four years in the top job.

Sources point to a candidate who has regional experience, but is currently based outside the region as a likely successor to take on stewardship of "a great brand waiting to happen".

Until a successor is found, BBDO's international president Jean Michel Goudard will run the network, assisted by deputy chairman Tom Kao and CFO Francis Phuah.

So, who chose to run the region from Taipei, was widely expected to resign in the past six months. "I've always wanted to work according to my own principles of what I see is fair and good for the company, but starting from early this year, I have had differences of opinion with the worldwide BBDO office," he told Media.

So's resignation is the second of a regional Omnicom agency chief in as many weeks, following DDB Asia chairman and China chief Aaron Lau, who left the agency at press-time after 16 years.
